Herschede grandfather clocks have been wit us since 1885. The company started out by designing the cases, which were made locally in Cincinnati, and installing imported movements. In 1911, Herschede began installing its own movements. After many years of production, the company moved from Cincinnati to Starkville, Mississippi in 1960. Herschede continued to build its famous tubular bell clocks at the new factory until 1984. New owners restarted production a few years later, but the effort was short-lived. The present Herschede owner supplies parts for Herschede movements.
